Number of Years Coached: I’ve been coaching soccer for eight years. I have been part of coaching over twenty years with other sports.
Playing Experience: Intramural. Growing up in central Ohio in the late 60’s and early 70’s, soccer wasn’t an option. Sports available were football, baseball, and basketball. I competed in all three.
Greatest Achievemet as a Player: Staying competitive (for pride) with the younger players.
Greatest Achievement as a Coach: Taking a group of inexperienced youth soccer players and developing confidence. Teaching individuals, to play as a team. Teaching the values of setting goals and achieving. Teaching players the values of not quitting. Failure leads to success. No matter what they do in life...be it in academics, the arts, or sports, WORK HARD! Help in keeping the game fun.
Favorite Player: Pele and Ronaldo
Favorite Team: Italy
What’s the most rewarding thing about coaching youth soccer? Coaching some of the most timid boy’s, become aggressive. Seeing the back defensive player work hard to stop goals, then eventually, witness the excitement when they score their first goal. Watching players go from little kids to young adults. Watching them hoist their trophy after a tournament win in the championship. Having the opportunity to coach my children.
Interests outside of coaching soccer: Spending time with my family. Watching my children in their sports or school activities. I still play basketball weekly. Working out/Fitness. Fantasy football. My business, which is landscape/design/build and grounds management. Spending time with friends.
